Alumni recognized for volunteer and community service2011-10-13

The Calgary branch of the Queen’s University Alumni Association recently honoured a local couple for their volunteer and community service.
Roger, Sc’71, MSc’78, and Lorna Smith, Arts’69, MA’72, ED’73 received the Johnson Award for their long service to Queen’s and the Calgary community. Principal Daniel Woolf and Calgary alumni branch president Josephine Tsang, PHD’06, presented the awards.
Ms Smith is the director of the Office of International Education at Mount Royal University. She is well known for her work in internationalization in the education sector. Mr. Smith is the president of Big Muddy Exploration Ltd. He is also chair of the Queen’s Geology Council and director of the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology.
