Sc'87 rocks on!
Back in the fall of 1983, who would have thought that a group of spotty, testosterone-fired Queen's engineering students would come together to form a rhythm and blues band called Swollen Members that would still be making music almost 30 years later in 2012? The band added glamour and beauty when it recruited various female students (including at one point, the now-famous CNN news journalist, Ashleigh Banfield, Artsci'88) whose contributions added depth to the vocal delivery and sound.
When the Class of Sc'87 returned to campus recently for 25th anniversary reunion celebrations, Swollen Members toomk to the stage at Clark Hall Pub. When they did, the place was jumpin'. So much for the generational divide.
Sandra Arthur, the wife of band member Richard Arthur, Sc'87, has posted a full report on the gig on her blog's web site. Check it out and find out how the Make a Wish charity benefitted from the Swollen Members' reunion concert.
