Alumni from around the world will be gathering on campus this weekend for the 2009 Alumni Assembly. The events start tonight with a branches dinner and a welcome home social. Tomorrow’s events include a breakfast with Principal Daniel Woolf, a discussion of Homecoming, Spring Reunion and MiniU, and the QUAA Annual General Meeting. The weekend’s finale is the Gala Awards Dinner to honour extraordinary alumni achievement.
This year’s alumni award recipients are:
• Alumni Achievement Award: Linda Locke (Law'84)
• Alumni Humanitarian Award: Mark, Sean and Paul Etherington (Artsci'96, Artsci'98 and Artsci'99 respectively)
• Excellence in Teaching Award: Les MacKenzie (Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology)
• Herbert J. Hamilton Award: Sarah Renaud (Artsci'96) and Sophie Sommerer (Artsci'98)
• Mentorship Award: David Stratas (Law'84)
• One to Watch Award: Stefanie Reid (Artsci'06)
• Outstanding Student Award: Leora Jackson (Artsci'09, MA'11)
• Rising Star Award: Tara Swords (Artsci'02, Ed'03)
• Event of the Year Award: The Ottawa Branch for the Discovery Day event at the Queen's University Biological Station
• Marsha Lampman Award: Susan and Todd Bright (Artsci/PHE'86, Ed'87)
• Student Volunteer of Distinction Award: Alissa Sokolski (Artsci’09)
