Nga-Yin Tam

Agnes obtained her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Hong Kong, and Master in Political Theory at the London School of Economics. Before starting her doctoral studies at Queen’s, Agnes worked in animal legal research and advocacy. Her PhD thesis seeks to develop a non-domination model to the structural problem of animal oppression, drawing on republican and radical theories of power/domination, and pragmatist-feminist theories of epistemology and of democracy.

Apart from her thesis, she is interested in all things moral and political, the continuity between East and West, critical and analytic, and theoretical and empirical. Outside of philosophy proper, she loves and teaches group fitness, and enjoys every beautiful thing and being, e.g. relating to nature, animals, and virtuous people.
