Newton's Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica

Newton's Principia

Isaac Newton's Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica. The publication of this 1871 translation was arranged by Sir William Thomson, later Lord Kelvin, and Hugh Blackburn, as Newton's book was found to be out of print. This copy was owned by Horace Lamb, a mathematician at the University of Manchester who published influential texts on classical physics and fluid dynamics and who was, in 1924, recipient of the Royal Society's Copley Medal.
