Departmental Colloquium - Particle astrophysics and astroparticle physics: the dark side of neutrinos and the Sun

Aaron Vincent,
(Imperial College London)

Monday May 1st, 2017
11:30 a.m. Theatre B

Abstract:

I will explore three areas where particle physics and astronomy meet, providing new solutions to long-standing problems. I will concentrate on three different aspects of my own research: 1) How the standard Solar model is wrong, and why dark matter may be the key; 2) Recently-discovered high energy neutrinos at IceCube and their link with dark matter and new forces; and 3) the possibility of exploring new aspects of neutrino physics with the next generation of dark matter direct detection experiments.
