The Dynamic Stark Effect and Switched Wavepackets

Abstract:

The Dynamic Stark Effect (DSE) produces a shift in quantum levels for oscillating EM fields, much like the Static Stark Effect. After discussing various approaches (including classical, Floquet, and effective action techniques) to describe the DSE, applications in Quantum Control will be discussed. Quantum Control is the study of actively transporting quantum systems to arbitrary target states. Techniques for using the DSE to affect Quantum Control will be presented, including Switched Wavepackets.
