Abstract:

Geo neutrinos are the antineutrinos produced in the beta decay of natural radioactivity in the Earth. In this Special Seminar, Dr. Mantovani will talk about what geo neutrino measurements can tell us about the heat-producing elements in the Earth. Additionally, he will tell us about geological studies in the vicinity of large neutrino detectors (like the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory) that are necessary to provide information about the local contribution to the geo neutrino flux.
