Sikes Hydrometer

Sike Hydrometer

The density of a fluid is determined by floating the hydrometer in the fluid and noting its buoyancy from its scale. A set of weights that attach to the hydrometer is provided for modifying the range of the instrument. This kit originally contained a thermometer for determining the temperature at which the measurement is being made. It was made by Buss of London, England and dates from the late 19th century.
