Physical Plant Services: Construction: Project Requests

If you require an estimate or wish to make a project request, please contact the Jamie Kimmett by email or by phone at 77591. To ensure accurate and timely processing of your request it is important to include the following information when sending an email:

Requestor Information:
Name, location, and phone number. This person is the main contact for any questions regarding the project request. Please include the location of the requestor (department/building) and a 4-digit extension

Desired Completion Date:
Date for completion

Description of Work to be Performed:
Please include specific scope of work being requested. Include details such as location, building, room, work type, etc.

Budget:
The amount of money you are looking to spend on the project.

Construction Project Delivery Process:
  1. Contact the Manager of Construction Services by email or phone with project idea, request for budget estimate.
  2. If project scope includes a change in use of space, the Physical Plant Space Administration Department will review the project for feasibility.
  3. Once the space question has been answered, the project reverts back to Construction Services.
  4. Manager of Construction Services assigns project to Project Coordinator (PC).
  5. PC contacts client to meet and define project scope.
  6. If project scope includes a change in use of space, the Physical Plant Space Administration Department will review the project for feasibility.
  7. Client signs off on scope (once space question is resolved).
  8. PC provides client with "Class D" estimate (cost and schedule), based on signed off scope and initiates Project Control Sheet for client's approval and funding source.
  9. Consultants, if required, will be retained to prepare design and tender documents.
  10. Project is tendered, and if within budget, construction proceeds,
  11. If tender price is over budget, the PC meets with the client to discuss options regarding scope/budget/schedule in order to facilitate the project.
  12. Project is constructed.
  13. Client occupies the renovated space.
  14. Close-out phase is commenced including deficiencies, invoices, client feedback discussions, and budget reconciliation.
  15. Warranty period involves monitoring the facility through the client and Physical Plant interactions and feedback as required.
