Physical Plant Services: Waste Services

Waste Services is responsible for handling the University's solid non-hazardous waste through the management of the waste hauling contract, compliance with government waste handling regulations and implementation of "reduce, reuse, recycle" programming.

Waste Services seeks to responsibly handle the University's waste and recognizes that landfill avoidance is an essential element of operating a sustainable campus. To this end, Waste Services works closely with the Sustainability Office to develop and promote initiatives that help the University divert as much waste from landfill as possible. Some of these initiatives include:

A General Recycling program for mixed paper and cans, glass and plastic
An Organics program for food waste
E-Waste recycling
Furniture re-use program

The success of the University's diversion initiatives relies on the cooperation and participation of students, faculty and staff. To see how you can be part of this success story, follow the service links to find out how to safely and responsibly dispose of your waste.
