Batteries:
Collect batteries in a container in your office. When your container is full, box them up and fill out a Hazardous Waste Disposal form on the Environmental Health & Safety website. Please note that at present, EH&S is using their chemical disposal form to organise this waste.

Books:
Used books are donated to Better World Books . A BWB book recycling depot is available in the JDUC, Lower Ceilidh, by the AMS office. For large quantities of books please contact Waste Services to arrange for shipping boxes, labels and a shipment date.

Building Materials:
Includes items such as wood, metal/steel, drywall, rocks, bricks, etc. Contact Fixit, ext. 77301, to arrange for a pick up at the receiving area of your building. Materials should not be placed outside until the pre-arranged pick up day.

Electronic Waste:
Fill out an
E-waste Disposal Request Form to dispose of electronic equipment such as computers, monitors, keyboards, phones, mice, scanners and printers. For more information about e-waste visit the page at the Sustainability Office Waste Diversion website.

Fridges/Freezers/Air Conditioners/Dehumidifiers:
Contact Fixit, ext 77301, to arrange for pick up and safe removal of refrigerants. Any appliance that has been in contact with or may contain hazardous, biohazardous or radioactive substances must be decommissioned prior to contacting Fixit. Fill out a Decommissioning Form on the Environmental Health & Safety website.

Furniture/Equipment::
Unwanted furniture/equipment can be posted on the FreeCycle Site for reuse by other departments. To dispose of broken furniture/equipment, fill out the Furniture Pickup Request Form page. Furniture or equipment that has been in contact with or may contain hazardous, biohazardous or radioactive substances must be decommissioned prior to removal or disposal. Fill out a Decommissioning Form on the Environmental Health & Safety website. Need furniture for your office? Contact Waste Services to find out what items are available in storage for re-use.

Hazardous Waste:
Fill out a Hazardous Waste Disposal Form on the Environmental Health & Safety website to dispose of chemicals and other hazardous waste items such as paint, solvents, oil, batteries, chemicals and radioactive isotopes.

Large Recycling Jobs:
Contact Waste Services to make recycling arrangements for large numbers of books, magazines, and marketing publications.

Organics:
The dining rooms and retail food outlets participate in an organic program that sends all the food waste and organic materials from the kitchens to a composting facility. Compostable items include: meat, dairy products, produce, coffee grounds, kitchen paper towels, napkins, uncoated paper take-out containers, cups and plates, and pizza boxes. Printer/Toner Cartridges:
Printer and photocopier toner cartridges can be placed in a box marked "recycle" and placed in your outgoing mailbag. Recycling services are also offered through ITS.

Tires:
The Ontario Tire Stewardship ( http://www.ontariots.ca/) program has been incorporated under Ontario's Waste Diversion Act. Contact Waste Services to make arrangements for responsible disposal of tires.
