As one of Canada's leading universities, Queen's has an international reputation for scholarship, research, social purpose, and school spirit. Consistently highly-ranked, Queen's is known for an incomparable 24-hour learning environment that inspires intense, lifelong loyalty among alumni around the world.
Outstanding teaching, exceptional students, world-renowned research, community and tradition - these are the hallmarks of the Queen's experience.
As a proud graduate and the parent of a current student, I look forward to bringing my passion for the university and my skills and experience as a teacher, researcher and academic administrator to the role of Principal and Vice-Chancellor at an important time in Queen's long and distinguished history.
We face some financial challenges, but they present us with an opportunity to reaffirm our core values, while at the same time reconsidering some aspects of how we do our work. They provide a context for our academic planning, but they should not drive it. Identifying institutional objectives and making hard choices will not be easy, but we owe it to ourselves and to our University to make the effort and move forward as a community.
I welcome input from all members of the Queen's community - students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends - as we work together to strengthen this stellar university.
