Queen's is Top 100 Employer

October 8, 2009

I have some good news to share with you today. Queen's has been selected as one of Canada's top 100 employers for 2010. I view this as a great honour for the university and its employees; it's something we can all take pride in.

It means that the environment in which we all work, as well as the policies and practices that are in place for us as employees of the University are among the best of the 2,600 employers considered by Mediacorp Canada for its annual survey.

Selection is based on assessing the workplace environment and includes personal and family benefits, vacation and time off, as well as training and skills development. Employees' community involvement is also a factor. Queen's is clearly a leader; our programs are strong thanks to your participation in the workplace and our local community is richer for your commitment to many local initiatives.

This is the tenth year for Canada's Top 100 Employer survey. This year's results are in this week's Maclean's Magazine, and watch for a special feature in tomorrow's Globe and Mail highlighting the survey criteria and the specific measures that set Queen's apart as a top place to work.
