Queen’s will host an awards ceremony on March 5 to celebrate members of the campus community who advance the university’s mandate of achieving equality and human rights in all facets of the institution.

“The creation of an equitable community, one that is diverse, inclusive and respectful of its members’ human rights, requires the work of every member across the campus,” says Irène Bujara, director of the Human Rights Office at Queen’s. “The recipients of the Employment Equity Award, the Human Rights Initiative Award and the Steve Cutway Award set a wonderful example for others to follow.”
Each year, members of the Queen’s community are invited to submit nominations for the following three awards:
• The Employment Equity Award celebrates the achievements of individuals, groups, or organizations that are going above and beyond to help Queen’s become a truly representative and inclusive workplace.
• The Human Rights Initiative Award recognizes initiatives that have contributed to the advancement of equality and human rights at Queen’s.
• The Steve Cutway Accessibility Award highlights the outstanding contributions of faculty, staff and students towards advancing accessibility for persons with disabilities at Queen’s.
The ceremony takes place March 5 from 10 am until noon in the John Deutsch University Centre, Robert Sutherland Room. Deputy Provost Laeeque Daneshmend will present the awards at 10:30 a.m.
