Supporting an integrated planning model for Queen's

October 19, 2011

Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) Alan Harrison is making changes in the structure of his office to support its significantly broadened role. Jo-Anne Brady, currently University Registrar, will be the new Vice-Provost (Planning and Budgeting), Ann Tierney, currently Associate Vice-Principal and Dean of Student Affairs, will be Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, and Teresa Alm, currently Associate University Registrar (Student Awards), will be Interim University Registrar. These changes take effect November 1.

“I am delighted that Jo-Anne, Ann and Teresa have accepted these new roles,” says Provost Harrison. “Taken together, the changes help us enormously to address the mandate of the Provost’s office, especially as it relates to the integration of planning across the university and budget allocation in support of the outcomes of this planning.”

Ms Brady brings to her new position a blend of experience, skills, and knowledge from 20 years in a variety of increasingly important roles at Queen’s. She will work closely with Donna Janiec, Associate Vice-Principal (Finance), who has, for the last couple of years, overseen the Budget Office as well as her own Finance portfolio.

Ms Tierney is broadening her role as she assumes responsibility for the Office of the University Registrar while continuing to lead the Student Affairs portfolio. Though recently appointed to her current role Ann previously worked at Queen’s in the Faculty of Law from 1996 to 2003. She also brings skills, knowledge and experience gained in her positions at Carleton University and the University of Calgary over the past seven years.

Ms Alm is well acquainted with the University Registrar’s responsibilities, having served on the Registrar’s leadership team while in her current position. Prior to joining Queen’s, she was Coordinator of Financial Aid and Awards at the University of Lethbridge.
