Appointment of Vice-Provost and Dean, School of Graduate Studies

Queen’s University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brenda Brouwer as Vice-Provost and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies for a five year term effective July 1, 2012. The offer of appointment from the Principal, Daniel Woolf, was in response to the unanimous and enthusiastic recommendation of the Advisory Committee, which was chaired by Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic).
Dr. Brouwer is a professor in the School of Rehabilitation Therapy with cross appointments to the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies and the Centre for Neuroscience. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, McGill University and the University of Toronto, she brings broad experience to this position, having served for the past two years as Interim Vice-Provost and Dean, before which she was for five years an Associate Dean in the School of Graduate Studies. In these roles she has promoted the development of a strong graduate presence for Queen’s and programs to enhance the graduate experience. Dr. Brouwer continues to maintain an externally funded research program that focuses on quantifying the biomechanical, neuromuscular and metabolic demands of mobility in healthy aging and stroke, and has supervised 37 graduate students and several post-doctoral fellows.
