Special provisions are made for pilot research by graduate students (Graduate thesis and dissertation research is covered by standard procedures. Pilot research is defined as exploratory work that precedes data collection for the purposes of thesis submission or publication. Students must submit a package that consists of the following via ROMEO.

___	Sample Letter of Information*
___	Sample Consent Form*
___	*Sample Debriefing Form (if using Subject Pool)
___	letter stating that the study is for exploratory purposes only

The PSYC REB will determine if it conforms to guidelines and, if it is of "low ethical concern and minimal risk", can clear it without the GREB. An application for pilot research may precede a review of a thesis proposal but it is not a substitute for clearance of the thesis proposal.
