|I am currently going into my 3rd year in Psychology at Queen's University. I grew up in Malaysia and attended high school in Alberta before coming to Queen's. I worked with Dr. Johnsrude over the summer of 2008 through the NSERC award and I plan on continuing in the fall term for my self-directed lab course. This summer, I worked on a behavioural study to quantify the "pop-out" phenomenon, which is a phenomenon in which we experience a dramatic increase in perceptual clarity of a normally unintelligible utterance when we possess prior knowledge of the sound. I hope to continue exploring this concept among others in speech perception throughout the year, and I look forward to working more with Dr. Johnsrude in the future.
