Psychology Technical Rick Eves Among Winners of the 2011 Staff Recognition Awards

Psychology Technician Rick Eves was among eight dedicated staff members to receive this year’s Staff Recognition Awards. The awards were presented Monday, December 5 as part of Staff Appreciation Day.

As General Technician for the Department of Psychology, Mr. Eves has been described as “the go-to person for an immensely wide range of tasks” and “the glue that holds everything in place.”

For more than 30 years, his problem-solving abilities have enhanced the Department’s teaching and research programs, improved overall workplace efficiency and made everyone else’s jobs easier. He has taken the initiative to design and build apparatus not available on the market, and to ensure that tasks in the Department are done correctly and on time. His innovative designs have helped turned Principal Investigators’ visions into reality.

Staff Appreciation Day’s events included two workshops facilitated by special guest Denise Bissonnette. In addition, complimentary coffee, tea or hot chocolate was available for staff at various campus outlets.

Staff members were also be automatically entered into a draw to win one of several great prizes.

“Staff Appreciation Day is a chance for the university to formally show its appreciation for the talented staff members that contribute to Queen’s each and every day,” says Vice-Principal (Human Resources) Al Orth.

All staff members were invited to attend the annual Principal’s Reception with Principal Daniel Woolf from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm in Grant Hall. Principal Woolf  presented the Staff Recognition Awards at 12:30 pm.
