Funding Opportunity:  Brain Canada Platform Support Grants - Brain Canada is pleased to launch a consultation with the research community, research institutions and potential funding partners, about its planned Platform Support Grants (PSGs), intended to contribute to the operating costs of national or regional research platforms that serve large numbers of researchers in the neurosciences.  Brain Canada intends that the PSGs will make possible the coordination and linking of existing local, provincial, or regional infrastructure into a national platform.  Brain Canada invites interested parties to submit informal Expressions of Interest, which will guide the content of the final Request for Applications, and facilitate the formationn of national platforms.  Summaries of Expressions of Interest will be posted on a moderated discussion forum, and any interested party may comment on them.  Brain Canada may also discuss submissions with potential research and funding partners.  Confidential submissions and comments are also welcome. CONFERENCES/LECTURES/SEMINARS


PREVNET's 7th Annual Conference -will be taking place at the Chestnut Conference Centre in downtown Toronto on May 7th, 2013.  The theme of this year's conference is "It's Everybody's Role to Promote Mental Health and Prevent Bullying".  Led by two of Canada's foremost experts in the field of bullying, Dr. Wendy Craig of Queen's University and Dr. Debra Pepler of York University, PREVNET (Promoting Relationships Eliminating Violence) is a national network of 67 Canadian researchers from 27 universities and 53 national child and youth serving organizations, dedicated to stopping bullying in Canada.  Teachers, counselors, parents, volunteers, youth and any others interested in bullying prevention will be able to network, and to learn of the latest knowledge and practical tips from Canada's foremost researchers and national community organizations:  Over 400 participants are expected!  For more information or to register click here.

Ottawa Workshop:  Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Chronic Conditions, Crisis Intervention and Relapse
- Excellence in Practice is pleased to announce that Dr. Bruno Cayoun, Director of the MiCBT Institute and Research Associate at the University of Tasmania, Australia, will offer a 2-day workshop in Ottawa entitled "Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Chronic Conditions, Crisis Intervention & Relapse Prevention." This workshop will take place on May 30 & 31, 2013 in the RA Centre, 2451 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, ON.  For more information click here.

The Department of Educational Psychology, Chinese University of Hong Kong -
invites applications for several positions, at all professorial ranks, in counseling or clinical psychology, school/educational psychology, measurement and quantitative methodology, cognitive and social psychology, early childhood development and education, and special needs and learning difficulties. Appointment will normally be made on a contract basis for three years initially commencing January 2014 or earlier, which, subject to funding and mutual agreement, may lead to substantiation or longer-term appointment.  For more information click here.
