We have had an incident in one of our departments on campus.  Small Fire and the root cause was a heating mantel which was put directly on window sill counter top.  As a result excessive heat from the heating mantel caused the window sill counter top to blister and smoke. PLEASE note: Always support the heating mantle with a ring to allow air circulation around it to prevent overheating of the exterior of the mantel. Never support a heating mantle with combustible materials or leave unattended.
