SSHRC INSIGHT GRANTS FOR FACULTY: DEADLINE AUGUST 15, 2012

This is an important reminder relevant to any faculty applying for a SSHRC Insight Grant this fall. A Notice of Intent (NOI) to apply for an Insight Grant must be submitted by August 15, 2012. Applicants who have not submitted a Notice of Intent by this date will be ineligible to submit a full application to the October 2012 Competition. (Full Insight Grant: no later than October 9, 2012)  The electronic NOI form is completed and submitted by researchers directly to SSHRC. The Office of Research Services (ORS) cannot forward NOIs and do not require a copy. CONFERENCES/LECTURES/SEMINARS

Queen's Psychology, Biology, and Center for Neuroscience Present:  Small brains, smart planes - Mandyam V. Srinivasan,Queensland Brain Institute and School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, University of Queensland, Brisbane.  Monday, August 13th 4:00pm-5:30pm in Humphrey Hall Auditorium - Room 102. This presentation will describe how honeybees use their vision to stabilize flight, control flight speed, negotiate narrow gaps, avoid mid-air collisions with other insects, and orchestrate flawless landings.  Click here to read more. 

Humboldt Colloquium "Excellence in Research":  Session for Early Career Researchers, November 2-4, 2012, Toronto. Call for Papers:  Advanced PhD students and scientists and scholars who received their PhD degree fewer than 6 years ago are invited to submit an application to participate in the three-day colloquium and present a short paper during the workshops on November 3 and/or a poster during the poster session.  Applications are accepted until September 7, 2012.  For details click here.

University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) - invites applications for a tenure-stream position in the area of Health, Adaptation, and Well-Being. This appointment will be rank of Assistant Professor and will begin July 1, 2013. For more information, please visit the website here. 

University of New Brunswick - invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2013. The position is for an individual in any area of psychology who can teach statistics, including multivariate statistics, at the graduate level. Individuals in Aging, Addictions, Forensic Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Applied Learning, or Performance and Motivation are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D.in Psychology (or near completion). Interested applicants should send a curriculum vitae, recent reprints or preprints, a statement of research interests, and a statement demonstrating teaching excellence or potential, and arrange to have three letters of reference sent to: Dr. Sandra Byers via email.
