SSHRC in collaboration with SSHRC leaders has organized regional outreach activities regarding the release of the six Future Challenge Areas under Imagining Canada’s Future earlier in September 2013.Sessions have been organized at the Munk School of Global Affairs of the University of Toronto, the Centre for International Governance Innovation in Waterloo, Université du Québec à Montreal, the World Social Sciences Forum, and the University of Regina. SSHRC is now closing the loop with two additional regional outreach activities, in Moncton on February 20, 2014 and in Vancouver en February 25, 2014. The Canadian Society of Clinical Hypnosis (CSCH-OD) holds its annual Introductory Workshop at the Albany Club at 91 King Street East, Toronto, on March 28 and 29th, 2014. This workshop provides grounding in theory and practice of clinical hypnosis for applications in psychotherapy and medicine/dentistry. Participants will immediately acquire skills applicable to clinical work. This workshop is accredited for 16.5 hours for each of CFPC Mainpro-M1, RCPS Section 1, and AMA Cat 1. The Ontario Association on Developmental Disabilities (OADD) Research Special Interest Group (RSIG) is inviting proposals for presentations and posters for its annual research conference, to be held Friday, April 11th, 2014 at the Ambassador Conference Resort, Kingston, Ontario. RSIG was formed to provide an opportunity for researchers, professionals, and other interested individuals, working in the field of developmental disabilities to exchange research, ideas, resources, and concerns. We welcome research from all disciplines and areas of research related to developmental disabilities. We accept both quantitative and qualitative research. We are inviting submissions and nominations for a number of awards that will be distributed at the annual research conference. The deadline for submissions for all awards is Friday, January 31st. The SMF Symposium is a one-day conference that highlights student and faculty research dealing generally with issues of social justice, personal/professional ethics, and responsible citizenship. It is our hope that this symposium will continue to serve as a forum for growth and development within the fields of sexualities, relationships, and families, as well as provide a space for future innovations and professional exploration. We would like to invite proposals for papers addressing this year’s theme, “Modern Families: Deconstructing and Renegotiating Close Relationship in the 21st Century” within any area of social justice; ethics; or couples, families, relationships, or sexualities. This conference encourages research that approaches the theme from a multitude of disciplinary perspectives; interdisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome. Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity at Simon Fraser University - Dr. Robert McMahon in the Department of Psychology at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada is seeking a qualified Ph.D.-level researcher for a postdoctoral fellow position. The position will be based in the newly established Institute for the Reduction of Youth Violence, which is directed by Dr. McMahon. Start date is flexible between March and June 2014. The Department of General Studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia invites applications for full-time faculty positions with the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the following field: Psychology.
