I want to express my gratitude to Ron Holden and Kevin Munhall who so expertly served as Acting Head while I was on leave.  We are all very fortunate to have colleagues with the administrative and interpersonal skills that they brought to the job.  They have set a high standard for me that I will endeavor to meet in my coming term as Head.  I welcome this opportunity and look forward to working with our excellent faculty and staff.

GRANT FUNDING INFORMATION
Supported by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation, the University of Pennsylvania Positive Psychology Centre have established the Templeton Positive Neuroscience Awards to advance research at the intersection of Neuroscience and Positive Psychology.  Up to 20 grants (averaging $200,000) will be awarded to researchers who hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent. NSERC - NOTICE OF DEADLINE
Please be aware that August 1 is the deadline to submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) to apply to the NSERC Discovery Grant Program. The NOI is the first part of a two-step application process (Full-proposal deadline is November 1 [an earlier deadline of Oct. 1 applies to Sub-Atomic Physics proposals of more than $500,000/yr.]).Rules for adjudicating and funding Discovery Grant awards were changed in 2009.  Please review the attached documents re Grant Process: NSERC 1 and NSERC 2.

COURSEPACKS AT THE P&CC (The Alma Mater Society)
What are coursepacks? Coursepacks are collections of readings and/or notes to provide a unified resource for students. Coursepacks allow course instructors to offer readings that are directly relevant to course material and most convenient to their teaching style. One of our former students,Miss Sara Beck(1993 B.A.(HONS) Psychology Upper II Class has won two prestigious awards for her article "A Question of Treason".
