Associate Dean (Studies) in the Faculty of Arts and Science (Dean Alistair MacLean) - There is a vacancy for an Associate Dean (Studies) in the Faculty of Arts and Science from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2015.  Faculty members, staff and students are invited to submit nominations (or self-nominations) of members of faculty within the Faculty of Arts and Science to serve in this position.  Nominations should be sent to Dean Alistair MacLean ( by Friday, 22 March 2013.  This appointment is located in the Student Services division of the Faculty Office and the responsibilities associated with the position will include:  admissions; first-year enrolment targets; student progression; awards; recruitment and publications; orientation; examinations; grades and the web site.  Responsibility for the Curriculum Committee would be shared with the other Associate Dean (Studies).  Appeals, advising and academic integrity matters for the Humanities, Social Sciences and Creative Arts would also generally be the responsibility of the incumbent.

2013 Student Awards - CPA Section for Women and Psychology (SWAP) of the Canadian Psychological Association -
SWAP offers awards for students presenting research at the 2013 CPA convention or SWAP Institute that is of particular interest to women and/or feminism.  Student Paper Award ($500), Travel Bursaries ($250).  Deadline is Monday, April 15, 2013.  For information and to apply, click here.

The new Graduate Department of Psychological Clinical Science at the University of Toronto Scarborough,

Call for Abstracts - Sixteenth Annual Meeting for Health Sciences Research Trainees -
is set for Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the Biosciences Atrium.  This all-day meeting has been organized in order to provide a forum for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research project students, medical students, and clinical residents of the Faculty of Health Sciences and related Schools/Faculties at Queen's University to discuss their recent research findings.  Deadline for Abstract Submission:  Monday, April 29, 2013.  For more information, abstract form and registration/payment form, click here.


Department of Psychology Distinguished Speaker - Lisa Diamond, University of Utah - Just How Different are Female and Male Sexual Orientation? - Postponed--New date to be announced.  Dr. Diamond is Professor of Psychology and Gender Studies at the University of Utah.  Dr. Diamond studies development and expression of sexual desire, behavior, and identity over the lifespan.  For abstract click here.

Department of Psychology Distinguished Speaker - Richard Eibach, University of Waterloo - Experiential Discontinuity:  A Cue for Judging Change in the Self and the World - Friday, March 15, 2013, 2:30pm in Ellis Auditorium.
Dr. Eibach is an assistant professor of social psychology at the University of Waterloo.  His research focuses on perceptions of self and social change, visual perspective in mental imagery, and judgments of progress towards racial and gender equality.  For abstract click here.
