The 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) Competition is back for 2013! (Rana Pishva) - On March 20, 2013 at 1pm Rana Pishva will be participating in the 3 minute thesis competition in the Walter Light Auditorium.  Her presentation is called "Evaluation of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Group for Parents of Anxious Youth".  For more information click here.

Safety In Field Research Workshop - Monday, April 1, 2013, 1:00pm - 3:00pm in Goodes Hall, classoom 304

2013 Student Awards - CPA Section for Women and Psychology (SWAP) of the Canadian Psychological Association -
SWAP offers awards for students presenting research at the 2013 CPA convention or SWAP Institute that is of particular interest to women and/or feminism.  Student Paper Award ($500), Travel Bursaries ($250).  Deadline is Monday, April 15, 2013.  For information and to apply, click here.

Call for Abstracts - Sixteenth Annual Meeting for Health Sciences Research Trainees - is set for Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the Biosciences Atrium.  This all-day meeting has been organized in order to provide a forum for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research project students, medical students, and clinical residents of the Faculty of Health Sciences and related Schools/Faculties at Queen's University to discuss their recent research findings.  Deadline for Abstract Submission:  Monday, April 29, 2013.  For more information, abstract form and registration/payment form, click here.


Department of Psychology Distinguished Speaker - Richard Eibach, University of Waterloo - Experiential Discontinuity:  A Cue for Judging Change in the Self and the World - Friday, March 15, 2013, 2:30pm in Ellis Auditorium. Dr. Eibach is an assistant professor of social psychology at the University of Waterloo.  His research focuses on perceptions of self and social change, visual perspective in mental imagery, and judgments of progress towards racial and gender equality.  For abstract click here.

Centre for Neuroscience Studies Seminar Series -presents Dr. Tod Kippin, Associate Professor of Psychology, University of California at Santa Barbara, Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013, 4:00-5:00pm in Botterall Hall B143.  Topic:  Sex Differences in Animal Models of Drug Abuse.

Early Years Conference 2014 - Shaping Childhood:  Factors that Matter
- January 30 - February 1, 2014, The Hyatt Regency Vancouver, Vancouver, BC.  This conference will explore the complex nature of the social, physical and biological environments that shape children's development.  Multiple elements interact to create dynamic contexts that contribute significantly to early and lifelong wellbeing.  Similarly, children influence their environments to shape their developmental paths.  All of these factors matter.  For more information click here.

The Ontario Association on Developmental Disabilities' Research Special Interest Group (OADD-RSIG)
- is holding its annual research conference on Friday, April 12th, 2013 at the Doubletree Fallsview Resort and Spa in Niagara Falls, ON. This conference will feature research on developmental/intellectual disabilities (DD/ID) across the lifespan.  The keynote speaker is Dr. Frances Owen.  The oral and poster presentation sessions will showcase a variety of research on DD/ID, including dual diagnosis, autism spectrum disorders, quality of life, education, service use, and psychotherapy.  For more information and to register click here.


Dalhousie University, Department of Psychology and Neuroscience - invites applications for a Senior Instructor position in the CPA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program.  This position is full time and is available starting July 1, 2013.  Job candidates should have a PhD in Psychology (CPA or APA accredited program), completed a CPA or APA accredited internship.  Applicant should be eligible for registration as a clinical psychologist in the province of Nova Scotia; and have experience in psychology undergraduate and graduate teaching, clinical training, and program administration.  Further information about Dalhousie can be found at  For further information on the position click here.

Dalhousie University, Faculty of Science, Department of Psychology & Neuroscience -
invites applications for a ten-month 50% full-time limited-term teaching position at the Instructor level beginning August 1, 2013 and ending May 31, 2014.  Applicants must have completed a Masters degree and have experience related to scientific writing.  Familiarity with SCIE 1111 and university writing centres would be assets.  Applications should be submitted by April 15, 2013.  For more information click here.
