CONGRATULATIONS (Ron Holden, Graduate Coordinator)

Congratulations to the following graduate students nominated for the Teaching Assistantship Prize in Psychology for 2011-12: Jeremy Stewart, Erica Refling, Laurel Dault, Jillian Mulroy, Aliza Friedman, Miriam Heavenrich, Mark Uyar, Haley Wong, Katrina Bouchard, Adam Heenan, Justin Deonarine, Rachel Bosma, Rackeb Tesfaye, Katherine Holshausen, Emma Dargie, Jennifer Bossio, Lauren David, Laura Stefanik, Jordon Bawks, Jessica Lougheed, Jason Rajsic and Lexy Schimmel.

All nominees will be receiving a certificate from the department in recognition of their excellent work. The department thanks all of you for your diligence and excellence as indicated by the praise of the students you served. The winner of the Teaching Assistantship prize in Psychology for 2011-2012 (valued at $400) is awarded to Laura Stefanik. Also Laurel Dault and Laura Stefanik will be awarded a Teaching Assistantship Award certificate by the Canadian Council of Departments of Psychology (CCDP).

We congratulate Laura and Laurel on this well deserved recognition of their teaching excellence.

   

CONFERENCES/LECTURES/SEMINARS

St. Mary's University -The Social/Personality Section of the Canadian Psychological Association is hosting its annual CPA pre-conference on Wednesday, June 13th, from 9:30 - 3:00pm at St.Mary's University. The pre-conference features 6 half-hour talks by Canada's top researcher's in Social/Personality psychology, a poster session, and a hot lunch! On top of that, registration is free, as the conference is graciously being sponsored by St. Mary's Dean of Science. 2nd Annual Indigenous Education Network's Indigenizing Psychology Symposium - May 31, 2012 - 9 AM to 5 PM, Native Canadian Centre, Toronto, Ontario.  This one-day symposium will cover a wide range of issues related to Indigenous mental health and healing in the community. JOB POSTINGS      

Ryerson University - Two Limited Term Faculty Positions- The Department of Psychology invites applications for two one-year Limited Term Faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor effective August 1, 2012 to July 31, 2013. The first position will include teaching in core areas such as Introduction to Psychology, Biology Psychology, and Psychopharmacology. The second position will include teaching in core areas such as introduction to Psychology, Child Development, and Adult Development. Enquiries may be addressed to Dr. Martin M.
