The Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) is pleased to call for applications for the 2014 Henry Mandelbaum Graduate Fellowship. Established in 2011 by the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations to honour their retired Executive Director, the fellowship is awarded to a full-time graduate student at a publicly-assisted Ontario University who has demonstrated academic excellence, shows exceptional academic promise, and has provided significant community service in his/her university career. Financial needs of students may be a selection factor. The successful candidate will be expected to produce and deliver a paper within one year of receiving the award to the OCUFA Board on a topic related to or resulting from his/her thesis or dissertation research. Amount: $5,000.00. Deadline for applications: April 4, 2014. Applications are sent directly to OCUFA by mail. Mackenzie King Scholarship Competition for 2014-2015 DEADLINE
TO SGS, QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY: Monday, February 3, 2014. Applications for the Mackenzie King Open and Travelling Scholarships are now available to download at the following website: www.mkingscholarships.ca. Applicants must submit their application directly to the School of Graduate Studies and Research at the Canadian university from which they most recently graduated or where they are currently enrolled. Students may apply for both scholarships with a single application if the eligibility criteria are met for both.

CONFERENCES/LECTURES/SEMINARS 

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: The Rosa Bruno-Jofré Symposium in Education (RBJSE) 2014, "Interdisciplinary Perspectives of Education: Starting conversations and building connections," will be held on February 28, 2014. We invite submissions from graduate students in all faculties that show relevance to the conference audience, contribute to education in its broadest sense, and demonstrate a high level of academic quality. Submissions should be in the form of a 300-word (maximum) abstract that adheres to APA format guidelines. Abstracts should be fully edited and ready to be included in the conference program. Students can opt to participate in RBJSE in one of three ways: a presentation, a roundtable discussion, or a poster of their research. Deadline for submissions is January 19, 2014. Early Years Conference: Shaping Childhood: Factors that Matteris being held January 31-February 1, 2014 in Vancouver, British Colombia. The conference will explore the complex nature of the social, physical and biological environments that shape children’s development. JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Kerry's Place Autism Services is currently seeking a part-time staff psychologist for a 15 month contract, 24 hours per week in KPAS Head Office, Aurora, Ontario. As a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, the KPAS psychologist shall provide ongoing consultation for the delivery of applied behavioural services, psychological assessments and supports for persons with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The successful candidate will also provide mentoring and support to members of the Behaviour Therapist team with cases at our residential and treatment sites. In partnership with Alberta Gambling Research Institute (AGRI), the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts, University of Calgary, invites applications to fill an AGRI Research Chair.  This full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor will be effective July 1, 2014.  The Institute aims to achieve international recognition in gambling-related research.
