Queen's School of English- is looking for Conversation Partner Program volunteers for our ESL students. Responsibilities include: Minimum one-hour weekly meeting with a group of 2-5 international students, Submit monthly reports and Be on time. A certificate confirming the number of hours you volunteered can be issued at the end of the session upon request. New Perspectives on the Psychology of Understanding - Fordham University, with the support of a grant from the John Templeton Foundation, invites proposals for the "New Perspectives on the Psychology of Understanding" funding initiative. This $1.2 million RFP is intended to support empirical work in cognitive, developmental, educational, and other areas of psychology. Canadian Youth Environmental Leadership Scholarship - offered by Cenovus Energy with The Delphi Group, CN, ARC Resources and GLOBE Foundation. The scholarship will contribute to the advancement of new ideas and new ways of thinking when it comes to protecting the environment by supporting students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership and the environment. It will be awarded to two Canadian students who have completed at least two years of an undergraduate program, who best combine academic achievement and public environmental service. Evidence for Democracy is organizing "Stand up for Science" rallies in cities across the country to call on the Federal Government to make a strong commitment to science in the public interest and base decision-making on evidence and facts instead of ideology. The rallies are in response to the recent cuts to important scientific institutions, the shift of science funding towards the commercialization of research, and the censorship of government scientists in communicating their research to the public. The event will take place Monday, September 16 from noon to 1pm in front of Stauffer Library, Queen's Campus. Speakers include Ted Hsu, M.P. for Kingston and the Islands, Prof. John Smol, and Prof. Peter Hodson among others.
