Dr Owen Williamson - Chronic Whiplash; Insult or Injury? Dr Owen Williamson is an orthopaedic spine surgeon, specialist pain medicine physician and clinical epidemiologist from Melbourne, Australia where he is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. He is involved in pain research and the development and accreditation of pain education programs both in Australia and Canada. Dr Williamson practises as a pain physician at the interdisciplinary Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre Pain Clinic. |

Dr Sol Stern - Canadian Opioid Guidelines: Consensus and Controversies Dr. Sol Stern obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto in 1982 after obtaining a BSc and MSc at the same university. He started a family medicine practice in Oakville, Ontario in 1983 and is the Lead Physician of an FHO with 8 GP’s in Oakville. Dr. Stern spends about 1/4 of his time involved in CME and has developed and collaborated on many CME workshops including the topics of cancer and non-cancer pain management. He is interested in information technology and has had an electronic medical record in his office since 1998. He is married with 4 children. |

Michael Boiven - Pharmacists and Chronic Pain Management; Prescription Tips You Need to Know - Part II Michael Boivin is a clinical pharmacist and continuing education developer for CommPharm Consulting Inc. He has transitioned from being a front-line pharmacist involved in primary care to a full-time developer of educational content for physicians, pharmacists and nurses. Michael has written several CE lessons on pain management, opioid use in chronic pain and has presented to colleagues on appropriate pain management. |

Dr Henry Averns - Models of Self-Regulation and Chronic Pain Dr. Henry Averns is Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology, Queens University. He was previous medical director & consultant rheumatologist (10 yrs) in the UK. Dr. Averns has a particular interest in the seronegative spondyloarthritides and RA and has presented internationally on pain and musculoskeletal issues (e.g., NSAID therapy & reactive arthritis). |

Local Health Care Practitioners
New for 2013, our program will include a LOCAL HEALTH CARE PROVIDER FORUM. Kingston Community Practitioners will discuss their programs and services.
Dr Ruth Dubin, MD, PhD FCFP has practiced family medicine in Kingston since 1987 and is Chair of the College of Family Physicians of Canada Chronic Pain Program Committee. Dr Dubin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Queen’s University. Her interests include the psychosocial determinants of function in chronic pain, self-management, addiction and pain.
Dr Scott Duggan is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at Queen’s University, and an attending Anesthesiologist at the KGH and Hotel Dieu Hospitals. He holds an MSc in Pharmacology & Toxicology (Queen’s University). Dr. Duggan was the recipient of the CPS Clinical Fellowship and is a member of the HD Chronic Pain Clinic.
Dr Greg Murphy is a Queen’s Medicine graduate, completing a Fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesiology at Harvard-affiliated Boston Children’s Hospital. He practiced anaesthesiology at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY before returning to Kingston to act as the director of KOPI with his partners in 2008. KOPI is a multi-disciplinary pain management and intervention center.
Dr Kieran Moore CCFP EM FCFP MPH FRCPC is an Associate Medical Officer of Health in Kingston, Ontario. He is the Chair of District 7 of the OMA and President of the Kingston Academy of Medicine. Dr. Moore is an Associate Professor of Family and Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University. He has an interest in real time surveillance and informatics to improve decision making.
Meghan O’Leary, MSc, is coordinator of the Self-Management Program of Southeastern Ontario, a program of Kingston Community Health Centres. Meghan has over 6 years of health policy and program development/implementation experience at both the provincial and local level. Before moving to Kingston, she was a Program Analyst at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Elizabeth Mann is an RN and researcher, currently finishing her doctoral work in the field of chronic pain self-management. She is actively involved in the Self-Management Program of Southeastern Ontario.
