Biography

I obtained my Bachelor of Physical Health and Education from Laurentian University in 2004 and completed my Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University in 2008. I am currently completing my Master of Environmental Studies degree at Queen’s University.

Research with PWIP

My research focus has and will always be to better the status of First Nation peoples. It is my hope that one day we will find a way back to the harmony that we once shared with the land, animals and environment. My work focuses on restoring the original vegetation and foods of the land such as wild berries, wild rice and medicines in order to establish a self-sufficient lifestyle through learning traditional First Nations practices and skills.

This research is important because it supports First Nations understanding and learning traditional practices and survival skills and aids in community self-sufficiency, resurgence and empowerment.
