Jeff Hanlon holds degrees in Arts and Education from Queen’s University, and a Masters degree in Music Performance from the Yale School of Music. He has over fifteen years experience as a classical guitar instructor, including nine years at post-secondary institutions teaching undergraduate guitar students. He currently teaches guitar and chamber music at Queen’s School of Music and Queen’s Conservatory of Music. He serves regularly as a guitar adjudicator for Kiwanis and Lions Club music festivals in Ontario.
Jeff’s guitar students have received awards at local and provincial music festivals in Ontario. His guitar students at Queen’s School of Music have pursued or are pursuing graduate degrees in music performance, theory, composition and education at the University of Ottawa, the University of Alberta, McGill University and Queen’s University.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Jeff Hanlon has performed with some fabulous musicians, ensembles and orchestras, including the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, and at venues across Canada and the United States, including the Banff Centre for the Arts, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and at Grant Hall, Queen’s University. Jeff has recorded for National Public Radio (NPR) in Connecticut, USA and for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation’s (CBC’s) Radio 2.
