Anne Palmer is a member of the Kingston Symphony where she plays flute and piccolo. She has played in the pit orchestras for numerous musicals including most recently the Kinsmen productions of Beauty and the Beast and The Wizard of Oz. She has performed and been recorded with the Cantabile Choirs of Kingston. In 2009, as guest soloist with Orchestra Kingston, she performed the Vivaldi Piccolo Concerto in C Major and premiered a work by John Palmer titled 3 Moods for 3 Flutes where she played alto flute, C flute and piccolo.
Anne is an accomplished flute teacher who has been giving private lessons for more than 20 years. Her students play in the Kingston Youth Orchestra, frequently win awards at the Kiwanis Music Festival and many have gone on to study music at the university level. Since 1990, Anne has been employed by the Limestone Board of Education Partnership Music Program to teach the flute to interested students at the intermediate level. She is also a flute instructor at St. Lawrence College and is on the faculty of National Music Camp and Kingston Summer Music.
In 2002, Anne founded and has since been the director of the community flute choir, Flutissimo. Flutissimo performs at various venues throughout Kingston including an annual concert each spring.
