Fees
All appropriate fees will be presented to students by invoice, once a completed registration form is received by QCM. Various options are in place for payment of fees.
This is payable at commencement of instruction for all students other than those taking single lessons, and is in effect between September 2012 - August 2013. It applies to any Conservatory offering and is payable once annually per family*, so students who participate in more than one activity or families with several musical members stand to benefit more. A reduced registration fee of $20 is offered for students who register for instruction in the Spring term onwards (15th April, 13).
*Family membership applies to a single household in which there is one financial contact person for spouses/partners and dependents taking classes through QCM.
This is an
optional annual fee available to students taking
private lessons on instruments other than piano or guitar. The subsidized rate provides students with the opportunity to work with a Conservatory accompanist for
recitals/workshops that are organized by us through the year. Students are entitled to one half hour rehearsal per performance. Rehearsals are not transferable between performances. Students may purchase additional rehearsal time through QCM.
-
Private Lesson fee (regular tuition) - $49-93 / hour
The private lesson fee incorporates Conservatory costs and instructor fees, and varies between
instructor. Fees can be pro-rated for students wishing to take lessons more or less than an hour in length. Please
contact us for private lesson fees of specific instructors.
Chamber Music Ensembles - Quartets: $155/person, Trios: $195/person (other size chamber ensembles quoted on a case by case basis)
- For students who register for 3 or more QCM activities in the 12/13 season, a 25% discount will applied to the course with the lowest fee (excluding private lessons) at the time of registration. This cannot be applied retroactively.
- HST: After considerable research and discussion with University tax authorities, QCM submitted a formal request to the Canada Revenue Agency requesting that all QCM tuition fees be exempt from HST. Lengthy discussions ensued. We are pleased to report that we received the written ruling on September 3, 2010 stating that the courses offered by QCM as described on this web site as of August 31, 2010 will be exempt from GST/HST.
