Canadian Patient Safety Week and Annual QJBC "Room of Horrors"
Our annual "Room of Horrors" is an inter-professional event involving Queen's Schools of Nursing, Rehabilitation Therapy, Medicine and Pharmacy residents and staff. The activity is sponsored by QJBC and complements the celebration of Canadian Patient Safety Week. The purpose of the event is to increase participants' awareness of patient and provider safety and to engage in problem solving with health profession colleagues. The event challenges inter-professional teams to identify potential safety hazards in the Faculty of Health Sciences Patient Simulation Labs and participate in other safety focused activities. The simulation labs at the School of Nursing are staged to mimic the hospital settings and include actor volunteers who role play as nurses and other health professionals, providing audio feedback to the participants. Top teams win prizes; all participants receive certificates of participation.
