Title: Responses to the Reification of Power and Hierarchy: An Interdisciplinary Dialogue
Abstract: Two perspectives on power and hierarchy are discussed by an art-historian and a human geographer. Susanne McColeman will talk about images that play with and jokes about symbols of power in the Palazzo Vecchio. Nel Coloma-Moya will draw from her research on cruise ships to point out workers responses to explicit and implicit expressions of power embedded in hierarchical labour relations.
Each meeting is kicked off with a 10-15 minute prepared talk, followed by a discussion.
