Attendance

1.   Can I arrive late for my program?

If you arrive late for your program, there are some key dates and fees of which you must be aware.

  • Students must have tested and be in class no later than the Tuesday following the first week of classes. It is your responsibility to be aware of the specific dates and to communicate your situation in advance with QSoE.
  • Although you may miss up to seven (7) days for the EAP and BIP programs and three (3) days for the CEE programs; the absences are accumulated during this period, and go against total time missed in class.
  • There is a $50 (CAD) late registration fee and a $50 (CAD) late testing fee. These fees are fixed, regardless of your reason for arriving late.

Students should be aware that they need to meet their English proficiency requirements prior to the Queen’s University application deadline for an undergraduate or graduate program. Depending on the starting session and level at QSoE, some students may not be ready to begin an undergraduate/graduate program until the following September.

2.   What if I arrive late?

Students who arrive late for registration will be charged a late registration fee of $50 (CAD). Students who need to make special arrangements to write the placement test (due to late arrival or other reasons) will be charged an additional testing fee of $50 (CAD).

3.   What happens if I am absent due to an illness or personal matter?

Attendance in all classes is an essential requirement of all of our programs and absences will directly affect your final mark. If you miss class due to an illness or another important matter, it is your responsibility to contact your teacher and to make the necessary arrangements to make up for the work missed.
