This session our unit is shifting within the university structure. Queen's School of English has offered English language programs on Queen's campus, first as part of the Department of Extension and then as an independent unit within the Faculty of Arts and Science, since 1942. In the beginning, QSoE ran summer programs for students from Quebec. Now it runs a variety of academic and specialized English-language programs year round, for students on exchange from other universities, for students seeking entrance to Queen's or other English-medium universities and colleges in Canada, for international students already at Queen's in graduate programs, and for students seeking improved English proficiency for professional development.
QSoE is no longer reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science. Effective November 1, 2013, we began to report to the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Stephen Elliott. We are pleased to announce our new reporting line and partnership. We extend a thank you to all in Arts and Science who have worked with us in the past.
In March of 2014, we will be moving our administrative offices to McArthur Hall (details forthcoming). Our current program offerings will not be affected by the move, and we will continue to serve Queen's University as a whole.
From our new home base on West Campus, we look forward to forging new partnerships, internal and external, and to developing innovative programs with the Faculty of Education. We will keep you informed of all new initiatives.
