Studying at Queen’s University

If I take the EAP program at QSoE, do I still have to write an English proficiency test to apply to Queen’s University?

An English language test score may not be required for an undergraduate program at Queen’s if you achieve a minimum of an A- at the ESLA 140 - Advanced level or a minimum of a B at the ESLA 150 - University Preparation level. If you are interested in applying to a graduate program, you are required to have at least an A- in either ESLA 140 – Advanced or ESLA 150 – University Preparation. For more information, visit the English Proficiency Exam Waiver page.

Will your program help prepare me for an undergraduate program at Queen’s University or another Canadian institution?

The EAP program is designed to prepare students to study at an English-speaking university by improving reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. You will learn to write essays, conduct proper research and develop your study skills, all of which are necessary to study in a Canadian university.

Can I observe Queen's University classes?

Sometimes it is possible to audit various Queen’s University classes. However, in order to do so, you must obtain permission from the professor or department and inquire whether there is an auditing fee.

Can I get a conditional letter of acceptance into Queen’s University?

Attending our EAP program does not guarantee acceptance into an undergraduate/graduate program at Queen’s University. Students will have to apply to Queen’s University separately. For information about the English proficiency exam waiver, click here.
