Trips and Activities

Are all of the activities and trips included in my tuition?

Most activities take place on or near campus are either free of charge or require only a small fee.

If you plan to participate in larger excursions such as Toronto or Montreal, the trips are not included in your tuition. Each trip will vary in cost, ranging from $50 to $400 (CAD). These prices are generally reflective of length of time spent in the visited venue and what the trip includes (i.e. admission to city attractions such as the CN Tower).

Do I have to participate in the activities/trips?

Activities are an important part of all QSoE language programs. Although activities are not mandatory, it is very important to participate in as many activities and events as possible in order to further develop your language skills.

All trips are optional and are available to students who wish to visit nearby cities with other QSoE students.

Why should you participate in the socio-cultural program?

  1. It's a great opportunity to experience different regions of Canada and its culture without having to do any planning
  2. Practice speaking and listening skills with your friends while having fun
  3. Make new friends

How much money should I bring for activities/trips?

The amount of money you should bring to an activity or trip will vary by what the trip includes. You should bring enough money for meals (if not provided) and spending money if you will be somewhere where you think you might like to do some shopping or additional activities.

Who are Socio-Cultural Monitors?

Monitors at Queen's School of English are essential staff members who are regular Queen’s University students. They support the curriculum and represent Canadian culture and values. They facilitate discussion classes and conversation tutorials for some of our full-time programs, as well as incorporating a socio-cultural component. Some of their duties include creating extra-curricular activities, helping with cultural adjustment, and facilitating informal workshops in various areas of interest.
