Canadian Winter English Experience

Experience Canada in the winter while learning English!This new program incorporates a variety of fun-filled activities including guided excursions and weekend trips, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of a Canadian winter.

You will participate in a student-centered immersion program which integrates the four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking, using Canadian cultural and social content. This program puts particular focus on developing communicative competence in speaking and listening.

Weekend Trips (included in tuition fee):

Ottawa
(1 day)

Quebec City
(2 days, 1 night)

Toronto & Niagara Falls
(2 days, 1 night)

    Program Outline:

    Core Class

    Participate in activities designed to help you develop all four language skills and use them in a communicative context. Engage in interactive role-play, pair and group discussions, oral presentations and activities.
    Expand your ability to read and write in English. Canadian culture is used as a theme throughout the courses.
    15 hours per week

    Language Lab and Pronunciation

    Attend a listening laboratory class each week, which focuses on the development of pronunciation and listening skills.
    3 hours per week

    Guided Excursions

    A socio-cultural monitor will escort each class to a different Kingston venue/attraction every week. These venues will be tied to the class theme.
    2 hours per week

    • Watch a live Canadian hockey game
    • Visit the famous St. Georges Cathedral 
    • Tour the Agnes Etherington Art Centre
    • Try Cross country skiing (weather permitting)

    Activities

    Participate in a variety of language intensive socio-cultural activities to help you enjoy Canadian culture while practicing your listening and speaking skills.


    Tuition Fee includes:

    • All courses
    • Transportation, trip accommodations and entrance fees for all weekend trips (Ottawa, Quebec City, Toronto & Niagara Falls)
