Changes to How Queen's Does Procurement

Illustration of Shopping CartThe first release of the new Queen's Finance and procurement system at the end of November 2009 ushered in a series of changes that impacted the way business is done campus-wide. These changes affected anyone who requests, approves, processes or pays for purchases throughout the University.

The new procurement system offers important benefits in terms of efficient access to information, tracking orders, online approvals, electronic distribution of purchase orders, and audit compliance for purchases over $2,000.

Some advantages of the new system:

  • Because it is implemented campus-wide, the new system helps ensure consistency in how Queen's purchases goods and services.
  • The new system tracks information faster and more accurately, making it easier to access and manage information.
  • This system supports the University with respect to compliance with Ontario's new Supply Chain Guidelines, which take effect in 2011.
  • Because orders are processed online and sent electronically, paperwork is reduced.
