Mark Your Calendar’s - January 2nd, 2017
Stephanie Deutsch, the eldest QWA member, is turning 100 years old on January 2, 2017. QWA is planning a special birthday party for her at the University Club on Stuart Street in Kingston on that day.
If you wish to attend, act early by filling in the form (found at 144 Albert club rooms). With your sign-up, a cheque of $45.00 per meal is required, include $5.00 toward Stephanie Deutsch Award Bursary. The cheque can be post-dated to January 2nd, 2017. Vegetarian or food sensitivities should be requested on the form. After November 10th, the Queen's gazette will be promoting the party to its readers and places will fill quickly.
There will be a delicious lunch at noon:
Squash Soup,
Roast Chicken Supreme with Mushroom Sauce or Vegetarian Moussaka, Rice Pilaf,
Birthday Cake, Ice Cream, Coffee or Tea
Every QWA member may sign in one Non-QWA guest. If you wish to invite others they can be placed on a waiting list. Some may want to bring husbands who've known or heard of Stephanie for years!
Approximately 20 of Stephanie’s family, friends and neighbours will be attending. Stephanie's great grandchildren may attend and will have complimentary children's meals.
There will not be an official speaker but family members, friends and QWA people may recall a story about her life which she likes to tell. After lunch, a few key questions will be posed to her with a microphone. Get her talking on her life in her unique and humorous style. She will be our entertainment; or a granddaughter may recall "life with granny".
Possibly, a master of ceremonies would be a good idea to keep things moving along! If you know someone to suggest, let us know and we'll contact her. Possibly a granddaughter will want to do this.
