Eligibility for Service
Who can access this?
Any student currently enrolled in, or accepted into, a university or college anywhere in Southern Ontario.
Due to the expected demand for psychological assessment services at the Regional Assessment and Resource Centre (RARC), there is a two tier priority system. The first tier of this system is based upon the assessment team's determination of the level of urgency associated with each referral. This level of urgency is assessed based on implications for the client's application to a post-secondary learning environment, implications for transition to a new learning environment or performance in an existing academic or employment environment. The second tier of this system is as below and is applied to each identified level of urgency.
- Queen's University or any other post-secondary student referred for new psychoeducational assessments for suspected learning disability/ADHD who are NOT eligible for interim accommodations based on previous assessment results. This position in first priority presumes the student has completed a screening questionnaire with the referral source and meets the criteria for referral.
- Queen's University or any other post-secondary student referred for updated psychoeducational assessments for previously diagnosed learning disabilities of ADHD. These students are eligible for interim accommodations based on an existing diagnosis. However, they have inadequate documentation to qualify for accommodations under the Ontario Code of Human Rights.
- Secondary School Students referred for a psychoeducational assessment once they have been accepted into a post secondary institution, either for the purpose of accommodation in their current curriculum or to prepare for the transition to university and subsequently limit those arriving at post-secondary institutions with inadequate documentation to allow them to access appropriate accommodations under the Ontario Code of Human Rights.
- Adults in the community referred for psychoeducational assessments for the purpose of returning to post-secondary learning, preparing for the transition to post-secondary learning or to support appropriate accommodations in the workplace.
