Student Authorization to Release Academic / Financial Information |
Your academic and financial information is protected by Ontario government law (FIPPA) and University Senate policy.
This means that details of your records will not be given to any individual (including parents or guardians) unless you grant them access.
A student wishing the University to release his/her financial and/or academic information to an individual, including a parent, or to an agency external to the University, may do so through SOLUS. This will be effective until the student cancels the authorization.
Please note that possession of a student's login information (NetID and password) does NOT constitute a permission to access or discuss their personal information. Only the registered student and those named individuals who have been specifically granted access to information can receive this information from our staff.

The Personal Information section of your SOLUS profile will display the following information:
The dropdown menu in this section will direct you to a selection titled 'Release of Information'. Click on this selection to be taken to the area where you can assign access privileges. |

It is important to remember two things:
1. Without assigning permissions, Queen's will NOT share your personal data with anyone - including parents or guardians; and,
2. Permission to access financial information (fees account balances) is separate from the permission to access academic information (transcripts and marks).
In this screen, you can assign permissions for one, or both, by entering the name of the individual, their relationship to you, and clicking on the 'Save' icon.

By entering and saving this information, you are extending permission for the University to discuss details of your student record with the person(s) you designate.
By clicking on the OK button, your record will be updated with the permission, and you will be returned to your SOLUS main page. |
