Queen's attracts a community of outstanding student scholars to its faculties and programs. To reward this high level of academic excellence, the University offers a wide range of scholarships to students entering the first year of any first-entry undergraduate program of study. Scholarships are primarily based on outstanding academic achievement in secondary school. Our major admission scholarships (such as the Chancellor's Scholarship and the D&R Sobey Atlantic Scholarship) include criteria such as creative and original thinking, involvement in school or community activities and proven leadership qualities.
To be eligible for most admission scholarships, bursaries and awards you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is entering the first year of post-secondary education for the first time. (Graduates from a two-year CEGEP program, transferring into the second year of Queen's programs remain eligible for admission scholarships.) A limited number of admission scholarship opportunities are also available to international students. If you are an athlete, part-time student, student with a disability or interested in the Bader International Study Centre, you may also want to read some specific information relating to these areas. If you are interested in finding out more about student financial need-based funding check out our Bursaries information.

- The values shown for admission scholarships and awards were in effect at the time of publication. Queen's University reserves the right to revise or withdraw any award without prior notice.
- The grades listed for individual scholarships are based on the Canadian School System and generally reflect the average of the previous year's recipients and are not a guaranteed level for receiving an award.
- Recipients of these scholarships will be selected automatically, based on academic achievement alone. By applying for admission to Queen's, all eligible applicants are automatically considered for a grades-based admission scholarship.
- Most students selected to receive an admission scholarship will be notified with their offer of admission.
- Students can check ASQ to view if you have received a scholarship or award for the program in which you have been offered admission.
- Final grades will be assessed for scholarship and award consideration. If you did not receive a scholarship offer or your grades have increased from the time you were offered admission, we will review your final grades upon receipt in July.
- Unless otherwise stated the Awards Average is used for scholarship consideration:
- For students studying in an Ontario curriculum (OSSD Curriculum), a minimum of 3 Grade 12U courses including English 4U and 3 additional 4U or 4M courses will be used to calculate the Awards Average. In some cases for program-specific scholarships, we must include the pre-requisite courses for the program you are applying to when the Awards average is calculated.
- For students studying in other provinces or territories in Canada, we will use Grade 12 academic subjects as defined in the General Admission requirements for a Bachelor of Arts program.
- Canadian citizens and permanent residents studying in other educational systems will have their awards average calculated in a manner consistent with the calculation and criteria used for admission purposes. For example, SAT/ACT results will be considered when assessing Canadian citizens studying in the United States.
- Generally, students will not receive more than one merit-based award. In some cases a scholarship, bursary, or award will not be available to a student who has already been granted an award of equal or greater value.

ˆEvaluated on program-specific admission average.
Queen's University offers a number of renewable scholarships and awards to students as they enter the University. These awards are available to the recipients in future years as long as the renewable criteria are satisfied during each year of study at Queen's. The impressive renewal rate on these scholarships and awards is a testimony to the continuing commitment to excellence the recipients display as Queen's students.
Eighty-eight percent (88%) of first-year students who are in receipt of a renewable Queen's scholarship or award qualify to have it extended in the subsequent year. Of the students who are selected to receive either the Chancellor's Scholarship, Chernoff Family Awards, Bank of Montreal Awards, or the Dr. Iris May Marsh Memorial Award, 93% have the awards renewed in each of the subsequent years.
