Tuition Fees Assessment

  • General Information

Each course has an assigned weight, as well as an assigned fee weight. The academic weights of courses are recorded in the academic calendar of each Faculty and School.

The Tuition Fee Assessment Table included below shows the translation of academic weights to fee weights for each Faculty and School.

The academic weight may differ from the fee weight; therefore students should be prepared to pay a fee that may be higher than the accredited weight of a course.
Additionally, a student registered in a Faculty taking a course offered by another Faculty should be prepared to pay the tuition according to the fee weight of the course in the other Faculty.
An Arts and Science student, for example, registering in the Applied Science course, CHEM 388, will be assessed the Applied Science fee weight of .75, even though the Arts and Science student will receive .5 academic credit for the course.
  • Undergraduate Studies

Tuition is assessed on a per course basis, regardless of full- or part-time student status for:

    • Arts and Science, including B.Mus, and B.P.H.E.,
    • B. Mus.,
    • Education,
    • Business, and
    • Nursing

Tuition is assessed on a program basis for students taking the normal full-time course load, or above, in the fall/winter** session in:

    • Applied Science**,
    • Law*,
    • Medicine*, and
    • Theology*

These program fees are shown in the undergraduate domestic and undergraduate international fee tables under the "tuition fee" column. (Part-time students in the above Faculties/Schools are assessed tuition on a per course basis, with the exception of students registered in Medicine.)

*Students registered in spring/summer terms are assessed tuition on a per-course basis. Fees for the spring/summer that normally increase May 1 each year are available on the Office of the University Registrar web site.

**Applied Science students registered in the fall term only will be assessed tuition on a per course basis to a maximum of 50 per cent of the fall/winter program fee, but any subsequent registrations in the succeeding winter term will automatically result in a per course tuition fee (which would include fall term courss) to a maximum of 100 per cent of the fall/winter program fees.

  • Graduate Studies

Full-time and part-time students registered in the School of Graduate Studies are assessed on a per term basis, with the exception of the following part-time course assessed programs, i.e., Master of Education and Master of Public Administration.
