All international students registered at Queen's University and residing in Ontario during their period of study are required to enrol in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) - participation is mandatory for both the student and their dependants while residing in Ontario. UHIP is a basic health insurance plan comparable to the Ontario provincial health plan, provided to residents. Only those students who can provide proof that they are covered by a comparable plan can waive UHIP. See http://www.uhip.ca/exempted.aspx for the current list of comparable plans.
All international students must complete a UHIP application, either in person at the Queen's University International Centre (QUIC), or online at http://quic.queensu.ca/incoming/uhip-studentpre-registration.asp and submit payment before their registration can begin.
Exchange students must be enrolled in UHIP coverage for each term that they are attending Queen's University.
