Dates and Deadlines

  • December 1-Jan 31           Graduate Students: Payment Plan self-enrolment for Winter term
  • January 1                             Winter Term begins.
  • January 2                             Photo ID Student Card Pick Up Begins
  • January 6                             Winter Term classes begin.
  • January 10                          Tuition fees due in full for Winter term.
  • January 10                          Graduate Students: Last fall term payment plan withdrawal.
  • January 17                          Last day to add a winter term course.
  • January 17                          Last day to drop a winter term course for full refund.
  • January 31                          Last day to pay Winter term fees without penalty.
  • January 31                          Winter term Residence fees due.


ALERT: Criminal scams in Kingston actively target students

The university has been made aware of several criminal scams that are targeting Canadian and international students.  You may receive a phone call, email, or text message from individuals claiming that they are from Canada Revenue Agency, Immigration Canada, or the police. Do not transfer money to them or provide personal information. You are advised to hang up and report the call to the police. Learn more.


Important reminders from the Government of Canada for international students regarding study permits

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reminds those attending Canadian post-secondary schools on study permits of the various rules and requirements related to their permit status.

Information from IRCC can be found on the Registrar’s Office website in both English and French.


Photo ID Student Card

If you are attending Queen’s as a new student beginning in January and are taking courses on-campus you will require a photo ID student card.  Learn more


Fall Term Grades on Official Transcripts

Although grades may appear in the SOLUS Student Center early, they will not print on official transcripts until January 12th.  Learn more


Not receiving Government Student Financial Assistance this year, but have in the past?

Complete the correct Continuation of Interest-Free Status and/or Confirmation of Enrolment forms to ensure you are not required to begin making payments on your previous government loans.

Undergraduate Students: Expecting funding to pay for Winter term, but it may arrive after the Jan 10th due date?

Be sure to apply for an Alternate Payment Arrangement before December 15. Click here to learn more about who should apply, and how to apply for an APA.


Queen’s General Bursary

General Bursary decisions will be posted on SOLUS in late December.  All bursaries are paid to the students’ accounts. If your student account is paid in full, a refund will automatically be issued to you in early February via electronic funds transfer. Please ensure that your banking information is up-to-date on SOLUS. 


Important information for students receiving 2019-20 OSAP:

Students receiving 2019-2020 OSAP have a January 31st winter tuition due date.   

All or a portion of your OSAP funding will remit directly to Queen’s from OSAP to be applied to your Queen’s SOLUS student account (usually in early January). 

Please wait until mid-January (or once the OSAP payment has been applied to your Queen’s SOLUS student account) before making an online payment for any remaining balance of fees outstanding (if applicable).


Graduate Students: Important information on the Winter Term Payment Plan (PPL)

  • Returning from a Leave of Absence, but want to join the Payment Plan? 
  • Beginning your graduate studies in January? 
    • You can self-enroll in the payment plan December 1-January 31. Learn more.
  • Already enrolled in the fall/winter payment plan? 
    • You will be automatically enrolled into the winter PPL as of January 20th. No need to enroll into the winter payment plan.


    Spring 2020 Graduation is coming! 

    If you will be completing your degree requirements in order to graduate in Spring 2020, you must apply to graduate. You can do so starting December 1, 2019.  For your timeline and for more information related to Convocation, click here.


    2020-21 Prospective Students: Apply for a Queen’s Admission Bursary

    Check out your eligibility for a Queen’s admission bursary here.  With just one application you can apply for all Queen’s need-based admission bursaries.
